God Plays Dice
Year 2018Personal Work
‘God plays dice’
"God Plays Dice" is a piece created from the imagination that if God impartially rolls the dice without any predetermined causality, determining our destinies. The black entity throwing the dice in the artwork symbolizes something that we believe to be absolute, akin to God, or perhaps ourselves as absolute beings. Even if the dice are rolled, is life determined by others fair and just? Is the entity I believe to be absolute truly absolute for me? Just like the protagonist in the artwork who remains unaware of the existence of the dice, there may be things in our daily lives that we have taken for granted and blindly followed. However, like discovering the small puddle left behind after the rain, someone who has gone before me, through small or significant events, may lead me to discover the dice above my head.
